Well, we are still here and doing well but I have just completely neglected my blog over the past few months. A lot has been going on and we have been busy. So here a a few of the April events:
Easter
We had a wonderful, warm Easter. We decorated eggs, the Easter Bunny came to visit and we had a nice Easter dinner and egg hunt at my Aunt Leslie's home in north Phoenix.
The Easter Bunny brought the kids umbrellas. Not sure that they'll get a lot of rain use out of them in Arizona but the kids have fun with them all the same.
These three cuties are all dressed up for Easter Sunday. You can see our growing garden in the background.
Basketball Season 2013
Passion finished her first co-ed Basketball season. It was a challenging season for her given that neither her or her mom knew that her team would be co-ed. So that was a surprise when we showed up to the first practice and Passion was one of two girls on the team. She was ready to quit from the start but she toughed it out and learned a lot and had some fun by the end. She had a really good team and they ended up having the best record in the league with 6 wins. Passion picked Red Robin to celebrate her end of the season game.
My Birthday
I turned 31 this year so now I'm officially into my 30's! I missed getting to celebrate with lots of friends and family like last year when Travis threw me a surprise birthday party. But we still had a nice quiet birthday together with just the five of us. Travis and the kids made me my favorite - strawberry cheesecake. Travis also got me roses and some Ralph perfume. He did a good job spoiling me!
Wisdom became a superhero
Well he's actually always been a secret superhero but after his grandma made him a cape and mask he became an official one and now races around the house ready to rescue anyone who needs saving.
Wisdom also got a new big boy bed. He fell out of it a few times. This time (below) he just kept on sleeping. He has adjusted well to his big bed and stays in it most of the time.
10 years
Travis and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary at the end of April. Instead of a trip we decided to buy ourselves a new and bigger bed. It is a really cozy king-sized pillow top and the bed frame is new too thanks to Ikea. We love all the extra space. The kids can even crawl in bed next to us and sometimes I don't even notice them 'til morning.
2nd Semester Down
Travis finished his first year of the PhD program! And he passed his qualifying exam in order to continue on to next year. The exam was a very stressful but a huge accomplishment and we are so glad it is over with. We have one more year of course work and then this time next year Travis will start on his dissertation.
I can't believe we are finished with the first year but at the same time it feels like much, much longer than a year ago that we left Idaho. I am so proud of Travis for how hard he has worked and for the kids sticking this out too. They have adjusted amazingly and slowly Arizona is starting to feel like home.
