Packing like Crazy!

I have to apologize to those who actually take the time to check my blog once in a while. It has been a while again! But this time I have a good excuse. The past few weeks have been completely crazy with packing, a visit to Phoenix to find a house, packing some more, a vacation to the coast and packing, packing, packing! We did have some fun over the past month though including celebrating Kindly's 5th birthday and Wisdom's 2nd birthday! I will post about both of those events soon and about our trip to the coast but for tonight I'm just going to tell you about our trip to Phoenix.

Travis and I left the kids with my parents and drove to Phoenix the first weekend in June. It was a long drive but much more enjoyable without kids! We stopped in Las Vegas and spent the evening walking the strip. I had never been and I have to say, what an interesting and strange place! We spent the night in the Stratosphere (pictured below). Then woke up bright and early the next morning to drive the remaining 5 hours to Phoenix. By the way we didn't sleep in that tall tower, the hotel is actually the building next to it. But we did take an elevator to the top. It was a pretty great view but I forgot to take my camera with me.

One of the fire, water & light shows one of the hotels puts on.

 Pretty amazing architecture!

We house hunted for two days and found this beautiful home! My favorite things about it are the kitchen (I love the island where the kids can eat at), a big separate living and family room and the shaded backyard. Also I love that it is 2,155 square feet so that we have lots of room for anyone who wants to come visit us (hint, hint)!

The home is in Avondale, AZ and has a really excellent elementary school about a 1/2 mile away. It also has just about every store I shop at within 5 miles. It is an awesome location and the commute shouldn't be more than 30 minutes for Travis on most days.
Even though packing is soooo tiresome, we are getting excited as the big move draws nearer! Wish us luck!
And check back soon for posts about Kindly, Wisdom and the Beach!

PS at night, if you go outside with those blacklights, you will see florescent scorpions all over that "fence" in your back yard, they love to climb up on those things at night. Perfect time for Travis to show all the kids how to do a karate kick to kill those suckers! The way they light up really is cool to see...and it makes you feel a lot better to kill so many at once.
We never had a problem with them in the homes I was in, but they were apartments and we didn't have many rocks near by. A lot of my friends that had homes would see them in their home here and there....pretty much the advice was to make sure you were always wearing shoes around the home so you didn't accidentally step on one. The other thing I didn't know was to beware of the babies...they can't control how much venom they release and so their stings are usually a bit worse. I think those things were the only thing about AZ that made me wary, the rest is amazing! We both absolutely loved it there and know you guys will too! So excited for you!!
